Case Of The Missing Mailbox Solved And Resolved!

FRISCO (CBSDFW.COM) – Imagine going outside to check your mail only to find your mailbox is no longer there.
That's what happened to Suzi Nelson at her Frisco home this summer when her community box (CBU) simply vanished. All that's left is a flat concrete slab.
"I got out of the car... and didn't even realize it was not there," said Nelson, who has lived at Flanagan Circle for the last 30 years.
"This mailbox has been here all this time" she said. "Now it's gone."
Nelson drove to the Frisco Post office in search of answers and when she didn't get answers there, she called the regional office.
"As soon as I said 'Flanagan Circle,' she said I have to put you on hold."
Nelson continued to drive, fighting traffic for 10 weeks to collect her mail at the post office… and still -- no answers.
"The traffic is horrible and it takes a good hour to-and-back," said Nelson.
The postman still makes daily trips to Flanagan Circle to deliver mail to the other side of the development, but Nelson's side is out of luck.
Thus, she took matters into her own hands.
"I decided to call Channell 11," she said.
And when Consumer Justice reached out to the U.S. Postal Service, a spokesperson said:
"The CBU on Flanagan Circle was damaged by someone running into it. The damage to the boxes was so severe that we could not repair them, they had to be replaced. Because the damage to the CBU did not allow for safe and secure delivery of the mail it was removed and customers were requested to pick up their mail at the local Post Office. A new CBU will be installed this week and mail delivery will resume."
Nelson said they never told her why the CBU was removed.
Customers are responsible for mail receptacles and cluster box units, according to the post office, but the if the postal service installs a CBU it has the responsibility for maintaining it.
After Consumer Justice looked into the matter of the missing mailbox, a new one was installed by the post office.
