CARROLLTON (CBS11) — Investigators are searching for the killer of a man murdered in his own home.
Police found 55-year-old Steven Lehman's body Wednesday inside his Carrollton home on East Peters Colony Road.
Workers arrived Thursday afternoon to finally begin cleaning the crime scene. Detectives have wrapped up their work at the home for now, but were back and forth throughout the day Thursday looking for clues.
Now Lehman's family is asking the public to help.
Lehman's daughter, Misty Williams, and other relatives stopped by the home trying to get a better understanding of what led up to his murder. For Williams, nothing could make any sense of it.
"I'm trying to piece together what happened," Williams said.
Investigators have released few details, only that they found Lehman's body inside the house with obvious signs of a struggle. In a city that's had only two homicides this year and a neighborhood that prides itself on safety, many don't know how to feel about the crime.
"I'm going to be a little bit more cautious now than what I used to be," said a neighbor who asked only to be identified as Angela. "I mean, I used to be laid back and everything, but now I'm not."
As for Lehman's family, they hope people will remember him as more than the victim of this horrible crime.
"Everybody knew my dad. He was a great guy," Williams said. "He'd give you the shirt off his back if he could. He was amazing. There's nothing bad anyone can say about him."
The family is offering a reward between $10,000 and $20,000 to catch Lehman's killer. If you have any information, you're asked to contact Carrollton police.
