Carrollton Company Cited For Safety & Health Hazards
CARROLLTON (CBSDFW.COM) - The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has cited a Carrollton company for 15 safety and health violations -- two considered willful and 13 others deemed serious.
According to OSHA spokeswoman Elizabeth Todd, the Western Extrusions Corporation exposed workers to a variety of hazards at its North Texas aluminum products plant.
Some of the violations include failing to provide personal protective equipment to employees and failure to label hazardous chemicals.

"The company, Western Extrusions, has 15 business days from the receipt of the citation to comply, request an informal conference with OSHA's Dallas-area director, or they can contest the citations," Todd explained.
KRLD NewsRadio 1080 contacted Western Extrusions and was told the issues have been resolved and there have been no injuries.
Because of the nature of the violations OSHA officials will have to perform follow-up inspections to make sure the company is in compliance with the law.
As it stands, OSHA is proposing $212,000 in penalties.
The Western Extrusions plant in Carrollton employs some 900 workers.
