Sentencing Set For Carjacker Who Took Man And Dog Along For The Ride
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -A sentencing hearing is set for next week in the case of a man who admits to carjacking a vehicle with a dog and special needs man inside.
Corey Dunn pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery for the March carjacking of Marvette Washington's vehicle. Prosecutors say he ran over and injured her after he snatched her purse. She held on to him as long as possible, trying to keep him from speeding off in her car with her brother, Prentice, and dog, Butch inside.
According to prosecutors, Dunn pushed Prentice, who has Downs Syndrome, out of the car after one block, but kept the three-year-old Schnauzer/Yorkie mix inside the car, as he led police on a chase from Cedar Hill to Dallas. Butch escaped when Dunn crashed the car. The three-year-old Schnauzer/Yorkie mix was missing for 27 days until an eight year old girl found him in her neighborhood.
Animal rights activists plan to attend the sentencing trial when it gets started on October 16, at 9 a.m.
