DENTON COUNTY (CBS 11 NEWS) - Officials in Denton County foiled what possibly could have been a fourth bank robbery by a suspect wanted in several North Texas counties.

On Friday police in Corinth arrested Steve Nguyen. Investigators believe the 44-year-old is responsible for recent bank robberies in Corinth, Arlington, and Mansfield.

Corinth police were called to the scene of a minor traffic accident on F.M. 2181. When officers arrived they found Nguyen at the scene. He had been driving a white-colored Honda Odyssey van.

Police noticed Nguyen, and the van he was driving; fit the description of a bank robber and a getaway vehicle. It had only been a week since a bank robber hit a location in Corinth.

Ironically, the car accident happened in front of a Bank of America location.

Officers kept Nguyen at the scene of the wreck and soon found evidence in his van connecting him to the North Texas bank robberies. The items included several notes and a hat matching the one worn during the holdups.

The FBI is assisting the police departments, from the separate robbery cities, that are investigating the crimes.
