Canseco Avoids Assault Question, Challenges Shaq To Fight
DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) - Jose Canseco, 48, returned to the spotlight for a number of reasons this week. Not only is he back in the independent United League as a player-coach with the Fort Worth Cats, but he has also been accused of sexual assault in Las Vegas.
No arrest was made and police said no charges were immediately filed against the former American League MVP, but the star took to social media to proclaim his innocence.

On Wednesday, Canseco also revealed on Twitter that Las Vegas police had just left his house. In other postings, Canseco posted the name, a picture, and the workplace of the woman, which immediately generated outcry from the public. The posts have since been deleted.
Canseco joined 105.3 The Fan's New School on Thursday morning to discuss a number of topics, but hung up when the sexual assault was brought up.
The Canseco Hangup
Canseco's agent later responded to 105.3 The Fan via text, saying he "didn't want to talk about the Sexual Assault."
Canseco is expected to be with the Fort Worth Cats for their opening four-game homestand, which starts Thursday night. The team will face off against Edinburg, which is managed by his identical twin brother, Ozzie Canseco.
"With me, I could strike out four times in one game or hit four home runs," said Canseco when asked about his expectations for the games.
The former slugger was also adamant about his desire to fight Shaquille O'Neal, who has been critical of Canseco in the past few weeks.
"I will fight you any time, and Shaquille will not commit," said Canseco. "We've been trying to get him to commit for the last couple years. The man has a big mouth; he will not commit; he will not step in that ring."
On Fighting Shaq
Canseco says he would love to fight Shaq at 300 pounds in an MMA style brawl.
"I would probably try to take out his knees from the beginning. But he can't punch; he can't really move. We'd definitely not go to the ground."
But it wouldn't be Canseco's first fight against a 7-foot giant. In 2009, Canseco squared off against Choi Hong-man, a 7-foot-1, 360 pound South Korean kickboxer in Japan. Canseco ultimately lost the fight one minute and 17 seconds into the first round.
