Campaign Volunteers Make Last Minute Push Before Election Day
DALLAS (CBS 11 NEWS) - Campaign volunteers were busy Monday night making phone calls and putting out yard signs.
While volunteers with the Dallas County Republican Party packed up before 7pm , likely knowing they have Texas in the bag, volunteers with the Democratic Party burned the midnight oil and then some.
They were making calls to Florida, a swing state, encouraging voters to go to the polls Tuesday.
Jazzmyne Manning, a 16-year-old volunteer, had three cell phones in front of her.
"This one is my personal phone right here. And these phones are just the phones they gave us," she said.
Darlene Ewing, Dallas Democratic Party Chair, said, "We're calling our Democrats encouraging them to make sure they get out to vote and not to get discouraged with six and seven hours wait time."
That shouldn't be a problem in Collin County where voters can swipe their smart phones over Q-R codes to find the shortest lines at 67 Collin County polling sites.
"Perhaps if people are coming home from work, when they come from outside the county, perhaps they can stop at the closest place when they are coming through," said Sharon Rowe, an election administrator.
The point for every party is to get voters to the polls.
