Businesses Hoping Romo's Injury Won't Break Spirit Of Cowboys Fans

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - North Texas ticket vendors and businesses are finding out if Tony Romo's broken collarbone is breaking the spirit of Dallas Cowboys fans. So far, they've been lucky to find fans like Rene Puente. He was at AT&T Stadium Monday with two, jersey-clad figures standing in the back of his pickup. One figure dressed like Jason Witten, the other like Tony Romo.
"These are the guys that pulled off the immaculate reception," he laughed, referring to the last minute pass for a touchdown to defeat the New York Giants.
Puente is bristling with optimism. So much optimism that his hopes for the Cowboys season did not break along with Romo's clavicle, or Dez's foot, for that matter. "Even though we lost Dez Bryant and Tony, right now we still have the fabulous team that Jerry built for us."
"So far, they're reacting favorably," said ticket vendor Lance Higgens of Ticketsource.com.
Higgens said ticket sales and prices were still strong Sunday night and Monday morning. He says fan hopes are buoyed by the win in Philadelphia. "The defense is playing really strong," Higgens said. "And I think the way the game turned out people know that there's a chance with Romo out we can continue to do good to get some wins."
Down the street at Airways Hamburgers, customers digest NFL news on a large TV as they eat. On game days, the restaurant charges for parking spots. The bigger the game the higher the parking fee. But, without Romo on the field they're not going to charge the $70 per spot they can get for premium games to ensure they fill the lot.
Puente says his biggest Cowboys worry right now is finding a Weeden jersey to take over on the mannequin in his truck. "I guess I have to change the jersey -- if they have his name and number out there."
As of Monday, Weeden Cowboys jerseys were listed online for $99. Weeden jerseys from his former team, the Cleveland Browns, were going for far cheaper.
