Bush Wraps Up Warrior Open Golf Tournament
IRVING (AP) - Former President George W. Bush has wrapped up a two-day golf tournament for wounded U.S. military members.
Bush presented the winner's trophy Tuesday to former U.S. Army Cpl. Chad Pfeifer, who also won last year's inaugural Warrior Open tournament.
Bush, who had watched as Pfeifer made a hole-in-one, told him: "On behalf of a lot of grateful citizens, congratulations."
Pfeifer's leg was amputated above the knee after his vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device in Iraq in 2007. He now works at a golf course in Arizona.
Military members wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan participated in the Warrior Open hosted by Bush in suburban Dallas.
The tournament is part of the George W. Bush Institute's Military Service Initiative.
