Bush Turnpike & Dallas Tollway Closed After Cement Mixer Crash

UPDATE: As of 3:00 p.m. Thursday, the NTTA says the cement truck is upright and further down the ramp. The cement that spilled on the roadway has hardened and crews will work to remove it. They also have to bring in temporary barriers. It could be close to rush hour before things are back to normal.
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - An accident involving a cement mixer has caused a major tie-up in North Dallas. Parts of two major highways are closed and another section is down to one lane.
At lunchtime, an overturned cement mixer sat on its side on a ramp to the President George Bush Turnpike. The truck was load with cement and when it crashed it sent wet concrete pouring onto the westbound ramp of the PGBT and down below into the westbound lanes of the Turnpike.
Police have shutdown the affected ares. The ramp from westbound PGBT to southbound Dallas North Tollway and two lanes of westbound PGBT are closed.
By 1: 30 p.m. two heavy-duty wreckers arrived at the scene and set about trying to upright the overturned concrete truck. All of the above ramps and lanes of traffic will remain closed while work continues on the overhead PGBT ramp.
Crews with the North Texas Tollway Authority are also working to remove debris from the accident, but officials say the process will likely affect traffic in the area "for some time."
