Bush Library Fundraising Has Surpassed Goal

DALLAS  (AP) – George W. Bush has already surpassed his goal of raising more than $300 million to support his presidential library.

Financial statements the Bush Foundation filed with the federal government last week show that the former president collected $313 million in donations in 2009 and 2010.

A Bush spokesman said the foundation will not name the financial backers though it plans to name some later. The largest single contribution in the past year was $25 million.

Bush's about 227,000-square-foot library will be the third located in Texas. The library of his father, George H.W. Bush, is located on the campus of Texas A&M in College Station. Lyndon B. Johnson's presidential library is located on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin.
