Bush Institute Hosts Naturalization Ceremony
DALLAS (AP) - Former President George W. Bush is set to give brief remarks as his institute hosts a naturalization ceremony followed by a series of panel discussions on immigration.
The George W. Bush Institute will host the events Wednesday. The institute is located in the George W. Bush Presidential Center, which also includes Bush's archives and library.
Following the naturalization ceremony for 20 people from 12 different countries, the institute will host panels to discuss immigration, including one that will look at how immigrants drive growth in Texas' economy and another on how naturalization and integrating immigrants can help economic growth.
The conference comes as Congress debates immigration reform. Bush's own attempt to overhaul of immigration policy in his second term was defeated in Congress.
