GARLAND (CBSDFW.COM) -- A member of the country group Lady Antebellum was forced to evacuate her bus when it caught fire on Thursday morning in Garland.
Hillary Scott, the band's co-lead singer, sent out the following message on social media following the incident.
"Hey guys, we had a crazy morning on the way to Dallas today. Our bus tire caught on fire and we had to evacuate very quickly. EVERYONE IS SAFE AND SOUND. It was me, my husband, our tour manager, and driver. Thanking God for our safety and the safety of all of those who helped put this fire out and keep us safe. Love you all!!!! ~hillary"
Scott's tour manager says the bus driver quickly stopped after a rear tire blew out. When everyone evacuated, the bus burst into flames.
Another bus arrived on scene and transported Scott and her husband. Via email, Scott's publicist says the singer is resting and getting ready for a big weekend in North Texas.
"The main thing is everybody on the bus is safe nobody is hurt. The tire blew up and caught on fire but everybody was able to get off the bus and everybody safe," said her tour manager.
Scott posted this picture on Instagram with the following message:
"EVERYTHING in the back lounge was destroyed from the flames, except my Bible. The outside cover was burned and messed up but NOT ONE PAGE was missing. Yall, God's Word will always stand. He is FOR YOU, WILL PROTECT YOU, AND HIS LOVE FOR YOU WILL NEVER FADE. My faith is forever deepened because of today. I hope this story deepens yours."
The 50th Academy of Country Music Awards are set to take place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington this weekend. Lady Antebellum is among those expected to perform.
The group, which was formed in Nashville in 2006, has won seven Grammy awards and seven ACM awards, among others.
The band's other members, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood, were not traveling on the bus.
