Burned Car May Have Been Mobile Meth Lab
FORT WORTH (KRLD) - Investigators suspect the care that burst into flames and sent five people to the hospital with severe burns may have been operating as a mobile meth lab.
The car caught fire while sitting at the light at Azle Avenue and 820 on Wednesday night.
Herschel Tebay with the Tarrant County Narcotics Unit says they're checking out clothing and the car for chemicals that would indicate meth was being manufactured.
"Some of these precursor chemicals that we found within methamphetamine manufacturing were indicated on the scene and that's the only reason there was any suspect," he said. "Normally you don't have a car burst into flames."
Tebay says the fire was so extensive they might not be able to prove meth was being made in the burned vehicle.
Four men and one woman remain in the burn unit at Parkland Hospital.
