FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Detectives have identified a body that was dumped and set on fire in a remote area around Cravens Road in Fort Worth. They have also made arrests in the case.
The victim, Brittany Pearl Chappell, 30, was killed on September 28, 2015. Police have arrested Albert Ray Martinez Jr., 29, for Capital Murder. Martinez placed a bag over Chappell's head, according to his arrest warrant, and suffocated her before dumping then setting the body on fire.
A clerk at the Shell gas station near where Chappell's body was found told detectives a Hispanic male, female and a black male were acting suspiciously inside the store that day. The clerk said they seemed extremely nervous, according to the arrest warrant, and paid for $2 in gas with change. The Shell station, located at 5800 East Berry Street, did have surveillance video, which a digital forensic detective reviewed.
The digital forensic detective said the video shows a man matching Martinez's description -- Hispanic with numerous tattoos on his face and body -- enter the store with a woman, later identified as Alexandria Nicole Flores, 22. The man was fidgety, on his phone and kept looking at the surveillance cameras as Flores counted change. A black male entered the store, according to the arrest warrant, and exited after the Hispanic male handed him something. That exchange happened 29 minutes before Chappell's burning body was found in the field.
Detectives identified the other man seen on the surveillance video as Jeremy Myers, 23. He's currently jailed in Baltimore, Maryland on a Capital Murder charge in regard to Chappell's death. Another man, Brian Thompson, 32, was arrested and charged with Tampering With Evidence in this case.
Flores is also wanted on a Capital Murder warrant with a $500,000 bond. Detectives said they believe she is moving from motel to motel trying to elude capture. They also said she's possibly armed and dangerous.
Chappell had two young children. Her family has set up a GoFundMe account to help her mother pay for her burial.
