FORNEY (CBS11) - A pair of burglars who smashed their way into a North Texas home might be their own worst enemy.

Two thieves can be seen on home security footage kicking down the door of a home in Forney on Friday. The two men get in and out of the home in just minutes, stealing an estimated $6,000 worth of items.

"I was still like in a daze to tell you the truth. I was like dang what happened?" said Francisco Rios, whose home was burglarized on Friday.

Rios said he was away at a family reunion with his wife and kids when the burglary happened. The thieves stole collectible basketball shoes, electronics, jewelry and an entire safe.

But what the burglars might not have realized is that they left behind a receipt from their purchase at a nearby Subway.

"They're dumb. I mean what else can you say? It's going to come right back to them," said Rios.

Rios believes the two men bought a sandwich from a nearby Subway to feed to his dogs to calm them as they entered the home. But the men had dropped their receipt. The piece of paper contained a time stamp of their visit to Subway and credit card information that will help police find who is responsible.

"Think about what you do because in the end, it'll come back and haunt you. It's going to come back and bite them. They're on their trail," said Rios.

The Crandall Police Department is handling the investigation and is working with the nearby Subway to get a better image of the suspected burglars from the security system in the store.
