Bullets Hit Another Dallas Highrise Building
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - It's happened again. Shots have been fired at another North Dallas office building. This time, it happened at the Towers at Park Central 9.
It's located on 12790 Merit Drive, next to the 635 exit ramp to 75. It's the building with the Interstate Batteries sign on the top.
Someone fired three shots at three third floor windows of the building. It happened around 12:30 in the afternoon Thursday. No one was injured.
Crime scene investigators say they believe the shots were fired from a small caliber handgun because the glass wasn't shattered.
Police also believe the shots were fired from the 635 exit ramp to 75, because the pellet hole pattern increases in height with each window.
Robert Moats, the attorney for the owners of the building, told CBS 11, "No one was hurt and police are investigating what is believed to be a random incident. While no bullets where found, the security as always is on alert."
Amtrust Financial Services has offices on the entire third floor of the building. They did not want to comment.
Attorney Carl Weisbrod, who was leaving the building, did.
"It could be they're just, you know, evil. But, I think it's more likely there's some mental health disturbance," he said.
On November 30 a Dallas office building, and window belonging to NewsRadio 1080 KRLD was hit by gunfire. In that incident bullets went through the outside panes of glass on two floors of the 12-story CBS Radio building, just off Central Expressway at Fitzhugh Avenue.
One bullet hit the office window of KRLD promotions director Matt Stacks, the other two hit Attorney Pete Schulte's office window on the sixth floor.
No one was injured and police are still investigating that incident as well.
Sources say police do not believe the two incidents are related.
