DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A woman was able to drive herself to a Dallas convenience store after someone shot her in the head. It happened at around 2:30 a.m. early Thursday at an apartment complex along Park Lane, and the suspect is still out there.

Authorities said that the woman was sitting in her car in the apartment complex parking lot when a shot was fired. The bullet broke the driver's side window of her Nissan Altima and grazed the victim on the head. Her daughter said that it hit the woman's forehead just above the left eyebrow.

Police stated that the woman was then able to drive a short distance to a 7-Eleven store to seek help. She was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to be okay. According to her daughter, the victim had just gotten off of work at a factory assembly line and was on her way home.

The victim's vehicle is already back in the Sunchase Park Apartments parking lot, but now with a trash bag covering the window. Broken glass covers the ground. Police told the victim's family that the impact of the bullet on the window may have been what saved the woman's life.

Meanwhile, the shooter is still on the loose. Authorities have not named a suspect, but said that it does not appear to be someone that the victim knew. Officials are also not sure what could have led to the shooting.
