Bryan Adams High School Basketball Team Gives Back

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The Bryan Adams High School Basketball Team only won four games last season, but they're already the most improved team in the metroplex.
Their coach, Juan Rivas challenged his players to make a difference in the community, and they responded with a real slam dunk. With an emphasis on giving back to the community, the team met at the high school on a Saturday at 7:30 in the morning. Their task was the split up in two groups and attack two monstrous projects.
At one Dallas home, the challenge was helping a homeowner get rid of loads of clutter in her garage. April Wheeler, the homeowner, said she's sure the boys did not know how hefty the challenge was. However, she's appreciative because her parents graduated from Bryan Adams High School in 1971, and they would be proud of young men following in their footsteps.
Coach Rivas said his players will be success stories on and off the court, and he wants them to remember to always lend a helping hand to their neighborhood, no matter how far life takes them.
About a mile from that location, other players had the chore of cleaning the yard of Sheila Ehrig. Unable to do the yardwork herself, and having recently lost her husband, Ehrig said "At first, I said 'no'… then I said that's stupid and I said 'yes', and I couldn't be more pleased with what the boys have done.
Ehrig went on to say the players at Bryan Adams are going to be great at whatever they choose to do. The Bryan Adams Basketball Team should be proud of itself for delivering the ultimate assist.
