Brookhaven College Lifts Lockdown For Gunman
FARMERS BRANCH (AP) - A Dallas County Community College was on lockdown for about an hour Monday after a report that a suicidal male student with a gun was barricaded in a campus bathroom.
Brookhaven College president Richard McCrary said the student wasn't found Monday during a search by campus police, who were confident the area was secure.
McCrary said the initial call went to Dallas police, who notified campus officials. McCrary said Brookhaven police contacted the student, and he said he wasn't on campus. McCrary declined to speculate on what prompted the initial call.
Dallas police said they were investigating the incident.
The incident comes a week after a University of Texas student shot himself to death in a campus library after opening fire on campus.
