Brief, Spin Up Tornado Damages Facade On Building's Roof

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) — A likely 'spin up' tornado peeled off the facade on the roof of the Compass Bank Building in Fort Worth around 4:15 Thursday afternoon.
Video uploaded onto YouTube shows giant sheets of metal flying off the building like flimsy sheets of paper.
That debris would end up wrapped around parked cars.
The flying debris smashed car windows and even knocked down a part of a metal fence around the building.
Jenny Rickner, who works on the second floor of the building on Meacham and I-35W, had to find an alternate ride home. Her Jeep is one of many casualties of the reported tornado.
"The trees were just curled, the wind was blowing so hard," she explains.
"All of a sudden we started to hear a swirling sound. We went into panic mode, we ran out and went into a bathroom," said Eva Harvey, who also works on the second floor.
All of it happened during what's normally a busy time in this parking lot. Many felt grateful the losses here were material.
"People are coming and going, but luckily no one was walking out of the building at that time," Rickner said.
