BRIDGEPORT (CBSDFW.COM) - Severe weather attacked North Texas on Tuesday night, producing strong winds and possible tornadoes in several cities. Bridgeport was among the places that woke up early Wednesday morning with extensive damage to buildings.
The storm snapped trees as it went straight for the Campbell home, trapping a couple inside. Now, Wesley Campbell's house is gone. But his faith has only gotten stronger. "We just started praying," Campbell said. "We prayed until it was over."
Campbell and his wife tried to leave, but it was too late. "By the time we got to the backdoor, the house started to move and the windows started blowing out," Campbell recalled on Wednesday. "I just pushed my wife down in between the washer and dryer and ice box in the utility room, and I crawled in on top of her, and the roof went off about that time. The house was still moving."
Two large trees landed on the Campbell home, trapping them inside for about an hour. They had to call 911 for crews to come and rescue them from the structure.

Not even a mile away, Roger Gibbons understand this pain. "That's where we live," said Gibbons. "It's gone, like that."
Gibbons and his family huddled in a neighbor's hallway during Tuesday's storm. Most of their mobile home park is now destroyed. "I don't even know what to say," Gibbons continued. "Where do you start? What do you do?"
As the families sift through whatever is left, in the middle of the devastation, it is photographs that bring smiles to faces that have little else. "The good Lord will provide," said Campbell. "We're alive and not hurt, and that's the main thing."
In fact, there have been no reports of any serious injuries from the storm.
The American Red Cross is now in Bridgeport to help out those families that have been impacted by the storm.
