Brian McBride Previews Gold Cup Soccer

FRISCO (CBSDFW.COM) - Soccer is on a lot of people's minds following the U.S. Women's National Team victory at the World Cup on Sunday, and you have a chance to see some of the best men in the world play right here in North Texas on Tuesday night.

The U.S. men's team takes on Honduras at Toyota Stadium in the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

There will be a lot of local activities as well including Allstate Insurance hosting a clinic for a local youth soccer league in Dallas. It will Feature U.S. Men's National Team and MLS legend Brian McBride as the special guest instructor.

The Dallas event marks the kickoff to Allstate's role as official protector of the Gold Cup, and a seven-city trophy tour scheduled for this month.

McBride spoke Tuesday morning about the growing popularity of soccer, and the opportunity to see some of the best in the world play in our area.

If you are unfamiliar with McBride, his resume includes:

-- Represented the USMNT in three FIFA World Cups (1998, 2002, 2006).

-- Scored 30 goals in 96 international appearances from 1993-2006.

-- Became the first American player to score at two World Cups.

-- Selected as captain of the 2008 U.S. Olympic team.

-- National Soccer Hall of Fame inductee (2014).

More about the CONCACAF Gold Cup:

-- Since it was first played in 1991, the Gold Cup has established itself as the region's most popular national team tournament.

-- Played every two years, the 2015 tournament marks the 13th year.
