7-Year-Old Drowns At Joe Pool Lake
GRAND PRAIRIE (CBSDFW.COM) - An 7-year-old boy drowned at Joe Pool Lake Saturday, according to Grand Prairie police spokesman Det. Lyle Gensler.
The child, Ivan Salinas of Mesquite, was swimming with his mother inside a swim ring at Cedar Hill State Park when it happened. The boy's mother told police he swam a few feet ahead of her and went under the water. That's when she lost sight of her son. His mother told police she thinks he was under the water at 5-10 minutes.
A witness pulled the 7-year-old out of the lake and a couple of other bystanders started CPR before medics arrived. He was taken to Methodist Charlton Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
This is the second drowning at Joe Pool Lake this year, according to Det. Gensler.
