Both Drivers Arrested After Wrong-Way Crash

HIGHLAND PARK (CBSDFW.COM) - Two people were injured after another wrong-way car crash on the Dallas North Tollway early Tuesday morning. It happened just after midnight in the highway's southbound lanes, just south of Mockingbird Lane.

According to Trooper Lonny Haschel with the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 25-year-old driver in a 2013 Honda Accord -- later identified as Hae J. Lee of Carrollton -- was heading north in the southbound lanes when he plowed head-on into an oncoming driver in a 2011 Nissan Rouge at the Bordeaux crossover.

The person in the other car was identified as 31-year-old Sandra Cozma of Mansfield. Lee and Cozma were both taken to Parkland Hospital in Dallas and are expected to be okay. However, both Lee and Cozma will be charged with driving while intoxicated.

The tollway was shut down at Mockingbird Lane for more than an hour as troopers investigated the crash. It appears as though Lee entered onto the tollway, traveling in the wrong direction despite numerous warnings, at the Harry Hines Boulevard ramp.

The North Texas Tollway Authority, which has oversight of the highway, has taken many steps in recent months to try and alleviate the problem of wrong-way drivers along the tollway.
