WISE COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) - A bomb threat caused an evacuation and essentially closed a large natural gas plant in Wise County.

Just after 8:30 a.m. the Wise County Sheriff's Office was contacted by security at Devon Energy. The plant is located along US Highway 380, just west of Bridgeport.

Captain Kevin Benton, with the Wise County Sheriff's Office, said, "Essentially what we discovered was in a work area there was a note, a generic note left, that stated there could be a bomb on the property."

The plant was already in the process of being evacuated when the emergency call was made, but Sheriff's sent officers, fire department bomb experts, and other first responders to the scene. The plant was searched grid-by-grid, along with all vehicles. Around 3 p.m. Sheriff's confirmed that no bomb or suspicious device was found and that the plant had been deemed safe. Employees are now returning to work.

As a precaution, Sheriff's closed the intersections of FM 1658 & Hwy 380 and County Road 3504 & Highway 380. Both have been reopened.

Officials said there was never any danger or threat to the public.

The investigation into the incident continues and Sheriff's say, when and if found, the individual who left the threatening note could face charges ranging from Terroristic Threat to Interrupting the Flow of Natural Gas and Oil Lines.
