Body of Soldier Returns to North Texas
It was a sad homecoming for a McKinney soldier killed in Afghanistan. But friends who knew Cody Board best say serving his country was his life-long dream. So, when his flag-draped casket arrived home yesterday, there was rich pride mixed with the sadness. PFC Board graduated from McKinney North High School last year and immediately went to Basic Training, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather. His casket arrived at Collin County Regional Airport yesterday and was carried by an honor guard from Fort Hood as scores of people with US flags watched in quiet admiration while McKinny police and firefighters held their salutes. There was also a contingent from the Patriot Riders, a motorcycle group that supplies a rolling escort to soldiers killed in battle. Following his funeral tomorrow at Our Savior Lutheran Church in McKinney, Cody Board will be interred in the National Cemetery at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
