FORT WORTH (CBS 11 NEWS) - Police are still piecing together the scene where two bodies were discovered Tuesday. The discovery was just yards away from a vehicle crashed into a tree.
Fort Worth police said they were alerted to the scene around 8:30 a.m. Emergency calls were being placed about a Toyota Camry that was sitting, smashed into a tree, in an empty field near Dirks Road and Bryant Irving Road.
"Well I thought something was wrong, because the car was so smashed up," said Tom Davies, who lives nearby.
Davies was on his way to work when he spotted the car wreck. He was about to call 911 when he saw a police officer and flagged him over to the scene.
"I said, 'Were you sent to that?' [He said] 'No I was just driving by," said Davies.
Hours later, investigators said a man repairing a nearby fence discovered the naked body of a woman on top of a child Police estimated the bodies and the car crash were separated by 200-to-300 yards.
"I don't know. It's a sad deal," said Leonard Rodgers, who was visiting a nearby medical office.
Police have not released the names of the victims or the identity of the person who owns the Toyota Camry.
Residents, like Davies, cannot figure out what happened but hope police do soon rather than later. "It's a little scary. It's concerning because they may be our neighbors. You hate to think that's how somebody's life is going to end."
Neighbors who live behind scene said they heard nothing the previous night or morning the bodies and car were discovered.
