Bobcat Sightings Keep Frisco Neighborhood On Alert

FRISCO (CBSDFW.COM) - A Frisco neighborhood is on alert after some residents in Panther Creek Estates reported seeing more and more bobcats roaming through their yards.
Residents said they first spotted the bobcats in an empty field from their homes about a year ago. But now they are starting to see the animals going through yards and even approaching a nearby elementary school.
"When they're out in daylight and you've got a small dog next to you, you don't know if you're going to be attacked or your dog is going to be eaten," said Stephanie Dixon Deeken. "The fact that they're just prowling to just eat, kind of scares you."
While no one has reported any injuries or attacks, Dixon Deeken said the animals seem to be getting more comfortable around people.
"They are not scared of us," said Dixon Deeken.
Some residents said they have now installed several spotlights not knowing if and when a bobcat could pop up next.
Other residents insist the animals are harmless and just looking for food or a rabbit.
While Dixon Deeken does not want anyone to hurt the animals, she would like to see an animal control investigator take a look at where the bobcats are coming from and why.
