Blue Jays Make Pitcher Change Before Playing Rangers
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- The Toronto Blue Jays have recalled right-handed pitcher Chad Beck and selected the contract of right-hander Jesse Chavez from Triple-A Las Vegas before Sunday's game against the Texas Rangers.
To make room for the two pitchers, the Blue Jays optioned infielder Yan Gomes to Las Vegas and designated right-handed pitcher Ryota Igarashi for assignment.
Gomes hit .227 with two home runs and five RBIs in eight games with Toronto. Igarashi, who was called up from Triple-A Friday, pitched one inning and allowed four runs in two appearances against the Rangers.
Beck was 1-0 with a 1.31 ERA and seven saves in 19 games with Las Vegas. Chavez made 10 starts with the Triple-A team and was 6-2 with a 3.72 ERA.
