Bill White Unveils Border Security Plan
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Bill White says his border security plan would use some state money and bring in more federal money to hire one thousand new police officers for border counties and 250 new DPS troopers for the border region. "If we want to secure our communities we need more people who can help, who know the terrain and are accountable to the local communities." Governor Perry wonders what federal dollars White is talking about. "His campaign has been rich with criticism but it has been very, very lax with any specifics." The Governor says the state has already spent millions on the border and this is a failure of the Federal Government.
