Big Spill Oil Confirmed on Texas Beaches
There is now confirmation that oil from the Deepwater Horizon spill has made it to Texas. It took some double checking but tar balls that washed up on the Texas coast in Jefferson and Galveston counties did come from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. "I want to emphasize that both of these impacts have been very minor but they can be traced back to the Deepwater Horizon." Because they are so small Greg Polack, Deputy Land Commissioner in charge of oil spill response, says all beaches are open and in good shape. He says a command center in Galveston has been set up to respond to any new reports.
