Betty Buckley Brings Her Stage Show Back Home
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - She is one of the most successful and popular songstresses to ever hit the Great White Way! Fort Worth native Betty Buckley first rose to international fame singing the now-iconic "Memories" when she starred in Andrew Lloyd Webber's hit musical "Cats." She has since appeared many times both on Broadway and on international stages in shows like "Pippin," but she shared with us that home is still the best place to be for the Tony Award winner... and the best place to perform!
Buckley will bring her one-woman show "Ah Men - The Boys of Broadway" to The Modern in Fort Worth this week, April 18, 20 and 21. The original show was a huge hit in New York City, and she is thrilled to bring it home for friends and family to see. She was disappoiunted that her mother could not travel to NYC to see the show, so she is especially pleased to know that her mom will be front and center in the museum's auditorium for the special concert!
The show is comprised of classic songs from award-winning shows that only the male actors sing. Betty said that she has often been standing off-stage wishing that she could sing one of the great tunes from "Sweeney Todd," or other shows, hence the creation of the one-of-a-kind show.
"Ah Men - The Boys of Broadway" will be performed at The Modern in Fort Worth on April 18, 20 and 21. Bring on the boys... and Betty!
