Best Ways To Celebrate "Star Wars" In DFW
The first Star Wars film was open to moviegoers on May 25, 1977. When someone says, "May the fourth be with you," they are referring to Star Wars Day, May 4. The day is a play on the words "May the force be with you," spoken by Obi-Wan Kenobi to Luke Skywalker before he went out to battle the evil Darth Vader.

You can do an "Imperial March" down to Premier Video and host your own private home showing of the Star Wars films. They carry all six feature films in the DVD, Blu-ray and VHS tape. Bonus: You can rent a copy of the newly released LEGO parody "The Empire Strikes Out."

On May 1, Children aged 5 to 12 can come to the store and build a one-of–a-kind Star Wars Retriever Droid model (This is not an item that can be purchased). Quantities are limited and are offered on a first-come, first served basis. Also, children ages 7 and up are be invited to build a LEGO Star Wars creation to compete for a prize. They can do so in LEGO stores starting May 1 and the contest will run until May 23. Regardless if they build their creations in store or later at home, fans will be encouraged to upload images of their creations to LEGO.com, and at the end of the month, prizes will be awarded. Three grand-prize winners will receive desktop sized LEGO Yoda model and 20 runner-up winners receive a hard to find LEGO Star Wars set.

The Texas Astronomical Society that hosts weekend stargazing events throughout the Metroplex. Member Kenneth Harrison says, "You don't need a telescope, there are members of the Texas Astronomical Society that will gladly let you look at the night sky through theirs," said Harrison. They guide guests through what they will see in the sky. "The planet Jupiter and the Orion Nebula will be out and later on in the evening and people will be able to see Saturn," said Harrison. If a participant has a telescope but is not familiar with its functions, society members will help them learn. This family-friendly event occurs in various locations when the skies are clear. Bring a blanket, but no white light flashlights (they cause night blindness). Red light flashlights only, please.

You can "represent" your favorite character at this year's Dallas Comic-Con, the Science Fiction Expo, held at the Irving Convention Center May 17-19.
