Fearing's is the epitome of Dallas haute cuisine and meals here are outstanding—but you're missing out if you eat here and skip the sweet endings. Alternatively, if you want to lighten things up, skip dinner and go straight to dessert. Pastry chef Jill Bates is a genius when it comes to desserts and her imagination doesn't slow down even when the heat is on. One of the divine summer desserts on the menu is the peach short stack featuring frozen peach yogurt layered between oatmeal shortbread cookies, with roasted Texas peaches, blueberry jam and vanilla cream cascading over the top. There's also a summer-inspired s'mores dessert that's a clever take on the favorite classic with chocolate mouse, roasted marshmallow ice cream and chocolate fried pies.

The Village Marquee has always been a hot dining spot in Park Cities, and now with new executive chef Andre Natera, it's getting even hotter. Natera's summertime dessert menu is filled with plenty of whimsical treats, including a chocolate peanut butter dessert that pairs caramel popcorn and peanuts with a scoop of luscious peanut butter ice cream. Natera also reinvents Junior Mints into a "senior mint" dessert, featuring white mint semifreddo covered in a chocolate ganache that's served with raspberries and a crème de menthe gelée.

Maybe desserts aren't a specialty in Vietnam, but Good To Go Taco ladies Colleen O'Hare and Jeana Johnson are making delectable sweets at their new Vietnamese restaurant. The dessert selection features some refreshing and imaginative ice creams in flavors like watermelon mint, coconut Thai basil, cucumber ginger and Thai chili lime. For a decadent treat, try the donuts — a Vietnamese take on Italian Affogato, featuring fried balls of dough, condensed milk ice cream and Vietnamese coffee poured over the top.

Lili's Bistro on Magnolia

If you find yourself wandering around Fort Worth's trendy Southside, drop in to Lili's for a meal, a drink or just a bite of something sweet to eat. This unique little bistro offers a variety of tasty dishes, including wonderful treats that will make you forget about the heat. Ice cream sandwiches in the form of three different cookie sliders are over the top. The three combinations include a chocolate chip cookie, chocolate ice cream and marshmallow cream; a white chocolate macadamia cookie, coffee ice cream and espresso creme; and a snikerdoodle, vanilla ice cream and brandy butter sauce. Or how about a beer float? Summer is all about drinking beer and eating ice cream and in this case, vanilla ice cream and Breckenridge vanilla porter meet up for a sensationally refreshing combination.

Jaspers

Plano, TX 75024

Jaspers might be known for great food and melt-in-your-mouth steaks, but it's the miniature desserts that really take the cake. People always says good things come in small sizes, so rather than settling on one dessert, which is a difficult thing to do here, order the trio platter and enjoy several. For a summertime delight, the strawberry-rhubarb buckle with creme anglaise and vanilla ice cream really hits the spot. The perfect balance of tart and sweet in the cherry limeade pie with meringue is a tingling taste bud sensation. One of the favorites on the list, the vanilla dessert toast marries bananas foster with French toast, vanilla ice cream and candied pecans — forming a perfect union.
