Best Science Exhibits At The Perot Museum

The Perot Museum of Nature and Science is the premier science museum of the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex. Along with its 11 hands-on permanent exhibits, the Perot boasts an impressive list of new, traveling exhibits and special events that encourage visitors to explore scientific history and discovery. Here are a few of the upcoming exhibits scheduled for this fall.

Discovery Days – "Being Human"
Date: Sept. 13, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.In "Being Human," you get to don lab coats and work with guest scientists to explore your genes through DNA extraction in the Bio Lab. You can learn about the intricate network of blood vessels beneath the skin, see how lifestyle choices can affect your life expectancy, learn how we create and store memories and interact with a state-of-the-art prosthetic hand. There are a series of mind games to challenge your brain and other activities to help you discover the connection between your body and your brain.
Discovery Days – "Scales, Feathers & Fur"
Date: Oct. 11, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.Going on a safari through the museum to explore the world of reptiles and other animals with the help of zoologists and veterinarians is what "Scales, Feathers & Fur" is all about. Utilizing the full-body flight simulator, you become a bird avatar and take to the air (watch out for trees). There are a variety of computerized discovery games and you can test your creative skills in the museum's costume creativity challenge. You can create a creature of your own and learn about animal habitats from around the world.

Discovery Days – "Science of Art"
Date: Nov. 8, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.With a beaker and a brush, you are challenged to unleash your creativity in the "Science of Art." You get down to basics by making your own art supplies, building gizmos and designing your own creations with the help of guest artists, educators and scientists.
Discovery Days – "Earth Science"
Date: Dec. 13, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.More than just the weather, "Earth Science" also explores the earth, water, air and fire. Dig deep as guest scientists and educators help you to uncover the beauty and natural resources of our earth. You can create biomes, experiment with the elements and discover weather patterns around the world. You can experience an earthquake, touch a tornado, learn how the airflows and how tides and storms are created. Want to know what the earth looked like millions of years ago? You can discover how the continents shifted over time using the interactive touch-response globe.
