Put some wow into summer fun at this massive aquatic oasis, complete with its own water park and kiddie aquatic adventure area on one end and additional swimming pools at the other end. Water slides, water cannons, bubblers, spray bars and a 200-foot lazy river offer plenty of ways to keep cool in the heat. But if that doesn't get you soaked, then the mini tsunami brought on by the 600-gallon dump bucket will do the trick. While the kids play, serious swimmers can practice their freestyle in the 50-meter Olympic-sized pool or take a dip in two smaller pools. Daily visit prices range from $5 for residents to $10 for non-residents, or purchase a book of 20 tickets starting at $80.

Fort Worth, TX 76106

www.fortworthtexas.gov Fort Worth may have been a little slow in updating its public pool facilities— after all, it's been around 60 years since the last pool was opened. However, this brand spanking new aquatic playground, which opened last summer, has made it all worth the wait. Anchored by a huge interactive play structure in the center, this 6,200-square-foot swimming hole offers everything from lap lanes and water spray features to a flume water slide and a submerged deck area that's ideal for parents to lounge around in while their kiddies splash the day away. Admission prices start at $6 for adults and $5 for anyone under 18, or purchase a pass of 30 visits starting at $112.50.

Fraternal Order of Eagles

www.facebook.com/DallasFOE3108

If the aquatic parks aren't your style, then this 1950s swimming hole will be a refreshing blast to the past. Sure, the Olympic-sized pool has been updated since then, but everything else around this place remains almost the same, from the cheap booze and food to the eclectic mix of friendly folks you'll find hanging out here year round. And what other public pool offers $1 jello shots and has three bars located right around the pool area? There's even volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, a kiddie pool and a playground. All of the revenue the organization takes in not only helps keep it afloat, but also funds a variety of charities. Best of all, from Memorial Day to Labor Day, you can come take a dip and stay around until midnight for only $3 if you're a member or $7 if you're not. And the rest of the year, you can take a polar plunge for free.
