The 4th of July is just around the corner and the options of where to take the family for fireworks can be endless. Here are a few of the best places in the DFW area to help you welcome Independence Day with a bang.

Free, free, free! Family-friendly fun is free for the 4th in Dallas this year at Fair Park. That's right, celebrate this great country's freedom and take the whole family. This year, the celebration will be held inside the Cotton Bowl Stadium where you can enjoy a unique performance from the Dallas Wind Symphony at 8 p.m., featuring music to stir the patriot in you, such as "America the Beautiful" and "The Star Spangled Banner." Reduced admission to museums, children's area and other Fair Park attractions will be offered.

Kaboom isn't the only sound you're going to hear this Independence Day. Here in Addison Circle Park, you'll be listening to live music as it mingles with the fireworks and dances gracefully through the sky. This 30-minute fireworks display is brought to you by Time Warner Cable and will be live on 100.3 JACK FM radio. With an air show that can't be beat, it's no wonder that last year, KaboomTown was listed by Forbes Magazine as one of the 10 best July 4th fireworks displays. Concessions and food will be offered and fireworks are launched at approximately 9:30 p.m.

Looking for a view without all the hassle? Head on out to Grapevine's 4th of July Extravaganza on July 4th from 9:30 p.m. until midnight. No rain check here. Rain or shine, it's Lake Grapevine. From 9 p.m. until the dramatic conclusion of the fireworks show, Fairway Drive will be shut down between State Highway 26 East and Silveron Boulevard. So grab the family and get a look at this free fireworks frenzy. There is no charge at most locations.

Start your morning off at 10 a.m. with a parade honoring our American heroes and enjoy the sales in downtown McKinney. After that, head on out to the McKinney Soccer Complex at Criag Ranch where food and family activities start at 7 p.m., live entertainment starts at 8 p.m. and the fireworks show starts at 9:45 p.m. Don't miss out. Make some room for the boom.

On Wednesday, July 3, enjoy the Independence Day free fireworks show at the Irving Convention Center from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Make it a day out with the kiddos. The Family Fun Zone will offer bounce houses, slides, rides and a climbing wall with more to come. The Kenny Chavez Combo and Irving Symphony Orchestra will be there in all their glory to help you celebrate the significance of this special day. Food and treats will be offered for everyone's delight. Fireworks begin at 9:40 p.m. But that's not all. On Thursday the 4th, there will be a parade-themed Celebrating America with a 50 State Salute in the Irving Heritage District.
