Best DFW Spots To See New Year's Eve Fireworks

Texas has a way of doing everything big. Dallas' New Year's Eve celebrations are no exception. Read on for some of the best vantage points for this year's fireworks display.

Big D NYE is the premier event for ringing in the New Year. Bring your blanket and collapsible chair for this outdoor extravaganza. This free family-friendly event includes music performances on two stages. The Victory Music Stage is located between the W Hotel and Victory Plaza on Olive Street, and the Big D NYE Stage is located in Victory Plaza next to the American Airlines Center. High-definition screens throughout the venue along with audio will keep you connected to the performances. Over 400 people contribute to this production, which includes 15 high-definition cameras, four portable HD screens, 10 Victory Park HD mega video boards, a helicopter and a pyrotechnics crew atop three rooftops. No coolers or alcohol are allowed in the gated venue but there are food trucks on site and beverage tents within the venue that sell everything from hot chocolate and bottled water to mixed drinks, domestic bottled beer and champagne. At midnight, enjoy the light show high in the sky.

With a room facing Victory Plaza, one can enjoy watching the fireworks and order room service. The newly restyled 252-room W Hotel is directly across the street from New Year's Eve festivities. With a push of the Whatever/Whenever button on your hotel room phone, you can have anything (as long as it is legal) delivered to your room. Cook Hall, an American gastropub, is the hotel's restaurant that specializes in refined comfort food (cornflake-crusted fried chicken and black-eyed peas with goat cheese and thinly sliced chicken skin).

Even though it is the 15th tallest building in Dallas, Reunion Tower is one of the city's most iconic structures. The original 259 golden lights around the ball were changed in 2011 to multi-colored LED lights unveiled on New Year's Eve 2012. The building offers spectacular views of the city. The Tower is atop the Hyatt Regency Dallas so after the fireworks, one can spend the night in one of the 1,122 guest rooms. The renowned Five Sixty by Wolfgang Puck is the premier restaurant in the Tower offering 360-degree views of the city from the revolving room. Reservations for New Year's Eve will go fast.

The Crescent Club is the fine dining restaurant of the Crescent Hotel. Located on the 17th floor, you can see the fireworks along with enjoying a multi-course meal. The gala seating at 8 p.m. includes cocktails, a five-course dinner, admittance to the VIP party in the Crescent Club bar with live musical and a champagne toast at midnight.
