Dallas may not have a Rockefeller Center, but it does have an indoor ice rink at the Galleria that's a festive place to skate during the holidays. The rink gets decked out for the season with a 95-foot-tall Christmas tree complete with ornaments and 250,000 lights twinkling to the sounds of the season. There's also a full schedule of ice-themed entertainment, including performances by a back-flipping Santa and other skating champions. The center offers year-round skating and classes for all levels. If you can't skate but want to try, then take the introductory 15-minute lesson to help you get your glide on. When hunger pains strike, grab a bite or a stiff drink at the restaurants located around the rink. Holiday festivities at the Galleria start after Thanksgiving and continue until first of the year.

Since opening in 2009, the rink has continuously offered a variety of specialized programs, camps, ice hockey tournaments and clinics, many of which are free during special times. The rink also organizes special events throughout the year that are centered around themes, including a Thanksgiving turkey open skate with on-ice turkey bowling and turkey tag. During the Christmas holidays there is a holiday skate party with Santa photo-ops, music, on-ice games and plenty of other holiday activities.
