There's nothing like ice skating during the holidays to get you into a festive mood. Dallas Fort Worth ice-skating rinks provide plenty of activities year round, but during the holiday season, they can make a great place for a winter wonderland escape. Gather up your family or bring along a date and make your holidays memorable at Dallas Fort Worth's best places to skate.

Dallas may not have a Rockefeller Center, but it does have an indoor ice rink at the Galleria that's a festive place to skate during the holidays. The rink gets decked out for the season with a 95-foot-tall Christmas tree complete with ornaments and 250,000 lights twinkling to the sounds of the season. There's also a full schedule of ice-themed entertainment, including performances by a back-flipping Santa and other skating champions. The center offers year-round skating and classes for all levels. If you can't skate but want to try, then take the introductory 15-minute lesson to help you get your glide on. When hunger pains strike, grab a bite or a stiff drink at the restaurants located around the rink. Holiday festivities at the Galleria start after Thanksgiving and continue until first of the year.

Everything about Polar Ice is huge, including the outlet mall it's connected to. The facility houses two NHL-regulation-sized rinks and offers a variety of organized activities to keep ice enthusiasts entertained. Known for offering the best skating and hockey classes in the area, there's a program for all ages, even one for parents and their tots. On Friday and Saturday nights there's a laser light show and a DJ spinning great tunes. Get a group together for some broomball action on ice without skates, or reserve the snow day skate party so you and your friends may spin around in a snow-filled rink any time of the year. Get into the holiday spirit by spending a day on the ice with Santa, Nov. 23, or come out for the holiday show featuring a variety of exciting entertainment on ice, plus a chance for photos with Santa and his deer.

If you're looking for a great place to skate without the crowds, then take a spin at this regulation-sized rink. Since opening in 2009, the rink has continuously offered a variety of specialized programs, camps, ice hockey tournaments and clinics, many of which are free during special times. The rink also organizes special events throughout the year that are centered around themes, including a Thanksgiving turkey open skate with on-ice turkey bowling and turkey tag. During the Christmas holidays there is a holiday skate party with Santa photo-ops, music, on-ice games and plenty of other holiday activities.

The center may be the home of the Texas Brahmas hockey team and known for having the best hockey facilities in the state, but it also offers great ice for those who just want to have fun and skate. Housing two NHL-regulation-sized rinks and an Olympic-sized one, there's plenty of space to enjoy all of the activities offered, including skating classes, hockey classes, clinics, birthday parties and events. If you're feeling hungry, slide over to the Italian restaurant inside, where you may find great pizza to give you energy for your next glide.

Conveniently located in the middle of Stonebriar Mall, this NHL-sized rink provides kids and adults a perfect escape from a day of shopping. The centre offers skating and hockey lessons, family skate specials, plus special extended hours for both public skating and freestyle sessions. During the holidays, it also offers a Santa's Little Elves camp at which you may leave the kids for a skating lesson while you go shop.
