I bet you never thought that there would be apple picking farms close to the Dallas / Fort Worth metropolitan area. Well we have compiled a list of the best places to go apple picking near DFW, so get ready to bake pies, make jams or just enjoy a tasty apple or two.

Apple Valley Orchard is located between Fredericksburg and Llano and has more than 500 apple trees that grow Gala, Fuji, Pink Lady and a wide variety of other apples. So pack up the car and head on down to this beautiful farm.

Feel like getting away from Texas for a few hours? Then head north towards Oklahoma where you can find the best apples for the season. You and your family will enjoy not only picking apples, but also pumpkins and other great produce. And if you want other things to do then you can have some fall fun on the pumpkin patch trail ride. Livesay's Pick-Your-Own-Apples starts in late August and ends early October, so call for availability before you make the drive as they don't pick every day.
