Best DFW Places To Watch The Geminid Meteor Shower

Stargazing is one of the best things to do when there is a clear night in the Dallas/Fort Worth metro area. Even with the downtown skylines, you can find a couple of great places to enjoy the night sky and possibly the Geminid Meteor shower, which is expected to happen Dec. 14-15. With night falling fast, you'll be able to enjoy more stars and the meteor shower without staying out until the wee hours of the morning.

(972) 780-4972While this park is only open until 11 p.m., you can see the beginning of the meteor shower, hopefully in clear skies. There is enough parking, and you can sit in the grass. Fortunately, if there is a baseball game going on, it won't stop you from enjoying the shower. The Geminid meteor shower will surely be a delight in this area.

If you get there early enough, you should be able to park yourself and your family somewhere around the pavilion, amphitheater, nature garden or pond. If you have a telescope, you will definitely get a first rate experience. Parking is free, so don't forget your chairs, blankets and bug spray.

You will enjoy the crispness of the winter (or close to winter) night while watching the beginning of the meteor shower. While there are no events scheduled for the meteor shower, you can still enjoy the experience under these dark skies. If you get there early, you can get a good hike in and learn a little about Texas and its critters.

The city of Garland has 63 park areas with more than 2,800 acres for sports, recreation and fitness activities. You can enjoy the natural areas and trails to enjoy the natural beauty of Garland. While it is in the city of Garland, there will be enough darkness to enjoy the meteor shower. The park is open until midnight so you'll be able to see enough to the light show before having to head home.

Just only a couple of hours Northeast of Dallas you and your family will enjoy the clean air and maybe a little chill in the air. Fortunately, there are great accommodations for you if you plan on staying a night. If you plan to look and leave, you will be pleased with this great park and all of its outdoor wonders. Just head north on 35 and get off at the Ardmore exit. You may even enjoy the Winstar World Casino on your way back.
