Best Pizza Joints In DFW

There's almost no other food as controversial as pizza. The topic of pizza will always be subject to debate. Even more difficult is trying to narrow down the best pies in a metropolitan area brimming with pizzerias. However, these five DFW pizza joints should definitely be on every pizza lover's short list. You may also want to check out the pizza places listed here.

Dough Pizzeria Napoletana
11909 Preston Road
Dallas, TX 75230
(972) 788-4600
www.doughpizzeria.com

The wood-burning oven at Dough turns out deliciously addictive pizzas with chewy crusts and just the right amount of char around the edges. In fact, these Neapolitan-style pies are so heavenly that Guy Fieri featured Dough's San Antonio sibling on the show "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives." The fontina pizza with oak-roasted mushrooms and caramelized onions is to die for— but if you really want to go all the way, order up the pork love. The combination of house-made mozzarella with salami, sausage, pancetta and speck will put you into hog heaven. Be sure to stop by here on a Monday when you can snag a margherita pizza for only $5.

Olivella's Neo Pizza Napoletana
3406 McFarlin Blvd.
Dallas, TX 75205
(214) 528-7070

Everyone from Rachel Ray to USA Today has raved about Olivella's artfully crafted wood-fired pizzas. Here you'll find pizzas cooked up in both the Neapolitan and Roman style traditions, the only difference is in the crust. The Roman style is ultra thin and crispy—where the Neapolitan pies offer a nicer chew. Among the variety of options to choose from, the gorgonzola pizza with pears and walnuts is truly sublime. But for something a little more decadent, try the aromatic white truffle oil pizza cloaked with house-made mozzarella and topped with cremini mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes.

Pizza Snob
3051 S. University Drive
Fort Worth, TX 76109
(817) 462-7662
www.pizzasnob.com This fast-casual pizzeria near the TCU campus has been creating quite a buzz since it arrived on Fort Worth's pizza scene last year. Although pies here are neither Neapolitan style, nor cooked in any fire-generating apparatus, these crispy thin discs come out quite delectable all the same. Choose from a handful of specialties, ranging from a spicy Italian sausage with candied jalapenos and a buttermilk Alfredo sauce to the honey BBQ pork with Vermont cheddar cheese. Or create your own snob-worthy pie with everything from beer-glazed onions and oven-roasted potatoes to garlic buttered meatballs and goat cheese.
Zanata Restaurant
202 E. Rusk St.
Rockwall, TX 75087
(972) 722-2822
www.zanatas.com Rockwall's food cognoscenti flock to this neighborhood bistro for its exquisite Italian and Mediterranean specialties. However, it's the chewy, wood-fired orbs that are the real stars of the show. The spiked happy hour pizza with charred pineapple, speck, mozzarella, spinach, caramelized onions and jalapenos is a popular pick here. But it doesn't top the San Jacinto pie. The combination of prosciutto and figs with goat cheese, pine nuts and a balsamic glaze is absolutely irresistible.
Cavalli Pizzeria Napoletana
3601 Regent Blvd.
Irving, TX 75063
(972) 915-0001
www.cavallipizza.com When it comes to truly authentic Neapolitan pizza, Cavalli's pies are the probably the best you'll find outside of Naples. While other DFW pizzerias might make a good rendition of this Napoli specialty, Cavalli's pizzas are actually the real deal and even carry a pedigree from the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana. Which means everything that goes into making these light and airy blistered rounds of deliciousness has to be in accordance with the VPN regulations. So being that the margherita pizza is the traditional pizza of Naples, this is the place to have one. But go ahead and live it up. Order the margherita extra that comes blanketed with San Marzano tomato sauce, specks of fresh basil and gooey buffalo mozzarella cheese.Related: Best Burgers In DFW
