Best Mussels In DFW

While some may regard mussels as the runt of the family of shellfish, they are one of the treasures of the sea. Some people will use a fork to pull out the tender morsel but true aficionados will use an empty shell as tongs and pinch the mussel from its shell. If you are preparing them at home, you want to make sure that all of them are closed. They will open during the cooking process. To make sure that you don't eat a bad one, only consume cooked mussels where the shell has opened. If you are served cooked mussels and find one where the shell is closed, do not attempt to pry it open. If one looks different that the others, put it to the side and do not eat it. Don't want to mess with selecting and preparing them? Many of Dallas' best establishments have earned a stellar reputation for their mussels.
