Best Movie Theater Deals In DFW

Movies remain a huge entertainment option for families, dates, and people just looking for a fun day out. However, in today's economy, they are almost a luxury item with the prices of most theaters, especially when looking at the concession prices and upgrades for 3D, IMAX, and more. However, the DFW area has some great options for people who love movies. Here is a look at some of the best movie theater deals in the DFW area.
Cinemark Movies 10
1818 Coit Road
Plano, TX 75075
(972) 985-1394
cinemark.comPeople all over the country have likely heard of Cinemark theaters, but how many people know that they are actually headquartered in the DFW area? Cinemark is located in Plano, Texas and has theaters all over the country. Interestingly, in Plano, right near corporate headquarters is the Cinemark Movies 10, a budget dollar movie theater that is showing movies that are a couple of months old for the very low price of $2 for matinee movies. As if that wasn't enough, they also offer military discounts, student discounts, family days, and much more, making it the best value on movies in the DFW area.
The Texas Theatre
231 W. Jefferson Blvd.
Dallas, TX 75208
(214) 948-1546
www.thetexastheatre.comThe Texas Theatre is not where people will go to see the latest superhero action movie or mainstream comedy movie. Instead, this is a repertory theater that shows all the indie movies, cult classics, underground films, and actual 35mm projected screenings for true film fans. This is a historical venue and also hosts numerous local events, as well as live music and an annual film festival called the Oak Cliff Film Festival. Whether it is a classic Jean-Luc Goddard movie like "Band of Outsiders" or the Austin-made classic "Dazed and Confused," this is where film fans can catch all the best classics, as well as newer arthouse releases. Tickets for these hard-to-find movies are only $10.
Valley View 16
13331 Preston Road, Suite 2300
Dallas, TX 75240
(972) 387-4503
www.amctheatres.comYes, this is part of the AMC chain, but for anyone who wants the absolutely best movie theaters deals in the DFW area, the Valley View 16 at the Valley View shopping mall is the place to be. Admittedly, the mall is not the best anymore and the theater is old and not really up to the standards as the bigger multiplexes, but this theater has the lowest priced tickets anywhere in Dallas. 3D movies cost $7.57 during matinee hours and regular movies only cost $4.32 for a ticket. Seeing movies at nighttime only costs $6.48 for regular tickets half of what a person would pay at a bigger theater. Plus, the theater is never busy in the afternoon and is a perfect place to see the newest releases in peace and quiet.

Inwood Theatre
5458 W. Lovers Lane
Dallas, TX 75209
(214) 352-5085
www.landmarktheatres.com/dallas/inwood-theatreWhat makes the Inwood Theatre such a great deal in Dallas isn't so much the new movie releases, which are about the same as anywhere else in the DFW area. What makes the Inwood Theatre so great is the Midnight Madness movie specials and The Big Movie every Tuesday night at The Magnolia. First up, the Midnight Madness movies take place every Friday and Saturday night at the Inwood Theatre and features some of the most beloved classic movies of all-time. This includes classics like "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" and "Road House" as well as cult flicks like "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Tickets run $10.50 for adults and $8.25 for kids and seniors. The Big Movie is all about classic films, with titles like Alfred Hitchcock's "Notorious" and the horror classic "Aliens." Tickets for these are $11 for adults and $8.50 for kids and seniors.
Galaxy Drive-In
5301 I-45
Ennis, TX 75119
(972) 875-5505
www.galaxydriveintheatre.comLocated just south of Dallas, the Galaxy Drive-In is one of two great options in the DFW area, with the second being the chain drive-in theater, the Coyote, in Fort Worth. This gives families and couples the great chance to relive the nostalgic feel of watching a movie in the car in the great outdoors. Of course, this is not the best-looking way to see a movie since the theater has basic projectors and are trying to battle ambient outdoor lights, but with the sound filtered into FM radio, this is still a fantastic way to catch a double-feature any night of the week. Movies play in rain or clear weather and Galaxy Drive-In shows the latest and most popular movies in a double-feature format for the low price of $9 for adults and $5 for kids.
