The Scarborough Renaissance Festival takes place every year in Waxahachie and features some of the best renaissance fun in the DFW area. The festival lasts almost two months, with events on every Saturday and Sunday from April 7 through May 28. They also offer themed weekends and Mother's Day weekend is titled Celebrating Chivalry Weekend. They will offer a Mother's Day brunch event for the whole family with a buffet from noon to 1 p.m. both days that weekend. The Members of the Royal Court will also pay special visits to honor mothers. The cost is $20 for adults, $10 for kids 12 and under, and anyone under four gets in free.

Every year, the Dallas Academy of Music and Performing Arts offers something for all fans of stage productions. Last year, it was Willy Wonka Jr. A Musical, and this year, it is the lesser known, but critically acclaimed Pippen the Musical. The musical offers excitement for mothers, sons, and any other family members who want to join in. There are acrobatics, magical feats, and songs composed by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked). The former Broadway musical will hit the stage over Mother's Day weekend, with its final show at 2 p.m. on Mother's Day itself.
