Best Mixologist Bars In DFW

There are bars with regular bartenders who can serve margaritas and Jack and Coke with the best of them, however, there are also bars with mixologists, who are specially trained to create something unique and special, something that you can't get at any old bar. This isn't a pretentious title either, as a mixologist is more than just a regular bartender. These men and women can create anything that you can imagine to give a person exactly what they are looking for on any given night, whether they have even heard of the drink or not. The DFW area has plenty of great mixologist bars to choose from and here are five of the best in the area.

Black Swan Saloon
2708 W. Elm St.
Dallas, TX 75226
(214) 749-4848

Named as the Dallas Observer Best Bars list in 2010 and 2011, the Black Swan Saloon was opened in 2010 in Deep Ellum by mixologist Gabe Sanchez and he quickly turned it into a hot spot for anyone wanting the best mixed drinks in the area. The Black Swan Saloon doesn't have a menu full of fancy drinks, but they know how to make the best of the best with all the ingredients a great drink could need. From their coffee-infused bourbon to their recent Attack at Dawn, made with Mandarine Napoleon, Black Swan Saloon has something for all tastes. The Black Swan Saloon is open seven days a week.

The Standard Pour
2900 McKinney Ave.
Dallas, TX 75204
(214) 935-1370

While The Standard Pour has a ton of whiskey drinks that its mixologists can whip up, their specialty drink is named after the bar itself. The Standard Pour is created from George Dickel Rye, house vermouth, and Benedictine with an orange peel, orange bitters and root beer bitters. The Standard Pour is also a top rated DFW restaurant and the mixologists will actually come to your table to mix your drink table-side. The Bourbon Review named it one of the best bourbon bars in the nation, and the Dallas Eater named it one of the best restaurant bars, too. The Standard Pour also offers live music to go with your great drinks.

Tate's
2723 Mckinney Ave.
Dallas, TX 75204
(214) 954-4141
www.tatesdallas.com

Tate's was created with the idea of unique hand crafted cocktails and used the mixologist bars of New York City and San Francisco as an influence. The bar promises patrons will get whatever they order, and the mixologists can create anything for any given taste. They also offer all the old standbys as well as hard-to-find white and red wine choices, as well as bottled beers. Tate's is open seven days a week with specials on every night, including happy hour specials every day. Thursday is ladies night and they get half off of select cocktails.

The Cedars Social

www.thecedarssocial.com

The Cedars Social is a mixologist cocktail den and restaurant that features cocktails created by one of the DFW areas best mixologists, Michael Martensen, and an award-winning chef, John Tesar. The entire atmosphere here is more relaxed than most mixologist bars in the DFW area with comfortable seats, a library and alcove, and a patio with a fire pit. The sell here is the atmosphere, but the reason to stick around is Martensen's expertise with the cocktail recipes, created with a decade of experience under his belt. While Martensen is no longer with the bar, his recipes are still the reason to return.
