Bringing His Dream To Life is the theme of the City of Ft. Worth's 30th Annual Martin Luther King Holiday celebration. Ft. Worth attorney, L. Clifford Davis is the scheduled keynote speaker. Estrus Tucker serves as the master of ceremony. Live entertainment with music and vendors is also scheduled for this celebration. The event is free and open to the public.

Shortly after 6 p.m. CST on April 4, 1968, a shot rang out in Memphis, Tennessee ending Martin Luther King Jr.'s life. A candle lighting ceremony is being held to honor the memory of the slain civil rights leader. Take some time to send a prayer his way or just reflect on the impact he had on America.

King was known for calling on the community to participate in peaceful marches to show strength and solidarity. A peaceful march and celebratory parade is scheduled to start at Dallas City Hall and end at the entrance to Fair Park. The projected number of participants and spectators is around 55,000. The event is free and open to the public.

The 33rd Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration starts off with a silent auction at 6 p.m. followed by a VIP reception at 6:30 p.m., and an awards banquet at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $85 each. The keynote speaker is theologian and social activist Ms. Rahiel Tesfamariam. Other guests scheduled to attend are Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings and Dallas City Council members. Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing Arts will provide live entertainment.

As part of the MLK 2015 Symposium, The Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture presents the world premier of "The 67th Book Of The Bible," based on Martin Luther King, Jr.'s, 1963 "Letter From A Birmingham Jail." The stage production, directed by Derrick Sanders, chronicles the writing and transcription one of the most powerful statements on civil rights by Dr. King. Written on various items (old newspaper and jailhouse toilet paper), the letter was smuggled out and delivered to Reverend Wyatt Tee Walker, King's Chief of Staff. Walker and his secretary Willie Pearl worked feverishly to piece together King's letter and resurrect a dying civil rights movement. A post-performance discussion with the director/producer Will Power, playwright Jonathan Norton and the secretary who transcribed King's letter Willie Pearl Mackay is scheduled along with an audience Q&A. General admission tickets are $20, teachers are $10 and students with identification are free.
