Best Mardi Gras Events In DFW

Mardi Gras celebrations occur all over the globe including the very popular celebrations in New Orleans, LA. A holiday of indulgence, it usually includes rich foods and fun parties. This February, DFW will be celebrating their own version with a variety of events.

Hosted by the Xavier University of Louisiana DFW Alumni Chapter, this ball will not only offer a night of fun events, it will also benefit graduating high school seniors in DFW who will attend Xavier through the chapter's scholarship fund. The event will feature a DJ playing the hottest hits, so bring your dancing shoes. There will also be Second line, a tradition in brass band parades in New Orleans in which spectators follow the marching band and dance with a parasol or handkerchief. Food at the event will include Creole-inspired cuisine and king cake.

The official Carnevale will be celebrated in Venice from Feb. 2 through Feb. 12, but for those of us who won't be able to make it to Italy, the  Italian Club of Dallas is bringing a bit of Europe to Texas with it's Carnevale celebration. Get ready for a five-course dinner as the clubs pulls out all the stops for the night. There also be plenty of entertainment, including a magician and a face painter and performances by I Colori and Piccoli Colori. Plus, bring your dancing shoes because a DJ will keep you on your feet all night long. Reservations are required for this event.

The main feature of this event is the 28 bands that will be on five stages throughout the day. The event will also include the Pavilion for attendees 21 and up: for an extra fee, attendees will receive a wrist band and will gain access to the pavilion, which will feature a fully stocked bar with mixed drinks and a patio from which attendees can watch the event. Mardi Gras Texas Style artists will also be sitting down for short interviews and may even play an acoustic song or two. If you want to bring the spirit of Mardi Gras to Texas, don't miss this party.

Why celebrate just on the actual Fat Tuesday? Every Tuesday, Joe's Crab Shack in Grapevine hosts Fat Tuesdays every week this time of year, so don't hesitate to come by whenever. The goals of the annual Ursuline Academy Of Dallas Mardi Gras Ball are to promote scholarship, build community and of course  have a great time. Over the past 22 years of this event, Ursuline Academy of Dallas has raised over $20 million through this event and awarded it to young women in order to allow them to complete an education at the school. The evening will begin with cocktails as well as silent and big board auctions. This will be followed by dinner, a live auction, a drawing for a 2013 BMW and casino play. The night will finish off with entertainment provided by Limelight, a high-energy, eleven-piece party band. The attire for this event is Mardi Gras chic/ black tie so dress to impress.

This year's fourth annual OCarnivale Mardi Gras Ball promises to get you on your feet, so don't forget your dancing shoes. Thaddeus Ford, Gaika James and Zydeco Blanco will be providing the sound from New Orleans. Everyone is welcome and attire will range from jeans to black ties, so you'll feel comfortable no matter what. Prizes will be awarded to the best and most unusually dressed. The ticket price includes delicious Cajun food, although the themed, fully-stocked bar costs extra. Get excited for those Hurricanes! A portion of the event will go to benefit GO Oak Cliff.
