Americans have a reputation for knowing only one language, but there are many benefits to speaking and understanding more than one language. It is good to continue learning throughout one's life, and attaining a new language skill would likely have many practical uses. Developing a new skill such as a new language will make you more confident and you will feel better about yourself in general. You may also be able to help others in some meaningful way if you know their language. Learning a language takes work, and often it is best to have help. Berlitz is a company that has been around more than 100 years, and they have a lot of experience in teaching languages. Their system is time-proven. Here you may take up another language, or you may learn English if you are new to the country. They offer classes at the learning center or will come to your workplace to teach a class. Berlitz also supports cultural events to promote understanding between cultures. They also offer relocation programs for people who are going to another country to work or study.

The Dallas International School focuses on education for children. It is well known that children learn language faster than adults. The school also has a language institute designed more for adults and adult learning styles.  There are corporate programs, small group classes and private lessons available. The emphasis is on conversational skills, an comprehension, as opposed to reading.

The Goethe Center focuses on German, and emphasizes learning culture along with learning language, feeling that the two go together. The learning experience is unique in that students study with Germans, who grew up speaking German in most cases. They call it an "interactive experience," and say their students become members of the community as they learn the language and what it is to be German.  Classes are offered in Arlington, Denton, Dallas and Farmers Branch.

DFW is more than a language learning center, but it is a good place to get started. DFW is a community alliance aimed at bringing together nearly half of North Dallas that are considered "new" Americans. There are many cultural programs where you can learn of other cultures and music. There are classes offered in many languages, and English is taught as a second language.You learn the culture, as well as the language here.

If you want to learn a language fast, this is the place for you, especially if it is Spanish you need to learn. They call their classes "Immersion service." This means there are a lot of lessons in a short time, and it means learning the culture.They teach more than just grammar and usage. They teach thinking skills as well as cultural appreciation. Classes start for children less than a year old through adulthood.
